What’s the latest on the cyber security bug “Heartbleed”?

By WillD|April 11th,2014|Disaster Recovery,IT,Managed Services,Security|No comments

Today, the U.S. Government posted a warning that hackers are attempting to exploit the ‘Heartbleed’ bug in targeted attacks by scanning networks to see if they are vulnerable (source: Reuters).

Atiba Hosting has been watching the Heartbleed bug closely since it was announced on Monday.  This bug could affect as many as two-thirds of internet users (source: CNN).  You may see more about this on the news in the coming weeks, as more information is being disseminated.  We are taking this seriously, and as such, Atiba Hosting continues to conduct scans of potential security breaches.  Also, as a precautionary method, we are advising any client that has administrative access to a web-based content management system to change their passwords.

To stay up-to-date on the latest developments and to see a list of FAQs, please visit the official Heartbleed site.

Again, we want you to rest assured the folks at Atiba Hosting are currently evaluating the risk to our servers and will reach out to any customers we think may need to take action personally.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Buzz Atiba.
